Dementia and Family Care Guidance
Caring for someone with dementia can become especially hard when behaviors change, caregiving gets harder, or living arrangements are no longer working. You don’t have to sort it out alone.
When families reach out
New agitation, confusion or restlessness
Changes in sleep, appetite or mood
A fall, or a sudden decline
A caregiver who is worn out or overwhelmed
Questions about whether home is still the right place
How we help
We help families understand possible reasons for these changes, look for medical, medication and environmental factors, and develop practical approaches to care. When needed, we stay involved with ongoing guidance as things change.
How we meet
When behavior changes, Dr. Suen usually sees the person in person, at home or another agreed place, because the setting tells us a lot. Follow-up conversations often work well by video.
